Welcome to my Opera set design webpage. I'll expain about Opera set design and how it is different from theature and movie set designs. Forgive me if I can't give you all the imformation you would need. I'm mainly studying set design for plays and musicals rather than opera.
Opera set designs are usually really high up like on a platform and then the Opera singer comes down. There has to be a lot of space for the singer to be able to move. There can be some props on stage like candles and other things. However the props needed for opera set design would be different that the props needed for a play as opera is is a musical performance telling a story.
I haven't been to the Sydney Opera House yet but I will go there one day because I'm sure that the Sydney Opera House will have a lot of great examples as to what the set design of operas should look like.
